ART PORTFOLIO
"PSYCHEDELLIC GUCCI"
A series of paintings and drawings inspired by the MFW Fall 2018 Gucci Runways which featured models with third eyes and carrying their heads. This was a concept that resonated with me and I continued to build upon over the course of 4 years during my stay in Manchester, experimenting with psychedelic patterns, different colour palletes and different backgrounds. The paintings consist of several mixed medias such as: drawing inks, prismacolor pencils, acrylic paint and watercolour paint.
"BIPOLARITIES"
Inspired by an image that I found of model Soo Joo Park looking in the mirror, I was drawn to the duality found in the image. This piece was created at a time whilst I was also being faced head on with addressing aspects of my shadow self and struggling with a mood disorder. Creating art has always been a source of therapy for me and I like to express myself through different colour palletes and psychadelic patterns.
"TRIPPY MEECHY"
This is a painting of Meechy Darko who is a rapper who's lyrics I appreciate and can sometimes strongly relate to from Flatbush Zombies. I copied an optical illusion I found online using acetate and drew him over the image using watercolour pencils, watercolour paint and acrylic paint. This piece contains of a loud clash of different patterns. I enjoy experimenting as an artist and trying to refine my style with each piece that I make, getting better in technical ability and learning what I find aestheticlaly pleasing.
"REST IN PEACE IVERSON"
This piece is of my steezy little cousin Iverson, who is unfortunately gone to soon. I feel that he is a guardian angel and this is how I often imagine him chilling in heaven. I used a lot of silver and gold inks, as well as UV neon paints in the background which makes the piece really bold and colorful and a lot more reflective in real life. I also attached diamantés to the reef that surrounds him, as well as on the Jesus piece around his neck. A lot of love, time an detail went into this piece.
"INNER WORLD"
A literal representation of keeping up appearances. Created using an optical illusion as the background and several mixed medias to create the portraits: drawing inks, watercolour paints, watercolour pencils, acrylic paint, charcoal.
