SKETCHBOOK
A sneak peak into the random things that leave me feeling inspired. These are just some of the most recent things that I have been sketching, as I have been getting reacquainted with my sketchbook after a long and hard psychology degree.
"FISH STUDY"
Recently I was feeling in a particularly crazy mood and I was thinking, you know what? Let me try drawing on some black paper. And you know what would be even more crazy? If I drew some fish instead of people. What a wild and revolutionary idea! In all seriousness, this got me wondering why I hadn't thought of using coloured paper a long time ago. I used prismacolour pencils and feel as if they pop really nicely against the black.
I think I googled "deep sea colourful fish" and picked the ones that I found the most striking and interesting, with this being one of my favourites because it's face reminds me of a cartoon.
"GRAND THEFT AUTO"
Growing up with an older brother, I used to always watch him play on his playstation and GTA is a game that will remain forever iconic to me. Although I never played much myself and it probably wasn't the most age appropriate thing for me to be watching, I always loved the visual aesthetics and it is a style that I have been interested in taking inspiration from and fills me with such joy and nostalgia to replicate iconic characters in my sketchbook
"MEGAN THEE STALLION"
This is my attempt to draw a picture of Megan thee Stallion in a GTA style using prismacolor pencils, and drawing inks for the eyes and the dress highlights. I feel as if my drawing style of people nowadays tends to be in quite a graphic, comic book style which got me wondering whether I should start experiment with using digital medias.
This is my first attempt at a digital painting using medibangpaint which is an open source version of Adobe Illustrator- I thoroughly enjoyed creating this and experimenting using the different brushes. This experience has definitely got me wanting to make more digital artwork and looking into investing in Adobe Creative Suite.
"MORE SKETCHES"
Here are some more things in my sketchbook which I am now considering turning into digital paintings. A large reason as to why I have started to take an interest in digital artwork is because, I have also invested in a screen printing carousel so I am trying to create cool GTA/y2k inspired prints to put on t-shirts. The angel is an original sketch inspired by pinterest and the model in the below picture is a freehand sketch of @dolcedussei on Instagram.
